Why? I loved my iPhone 4 (before I lost it) but my 3GS is far easier to hold.

I still prefer the iPhone4 design aesthetically, but the reason is the awesomeness of the exterior metallic antenna look, rather than the rectangular block shape. Although, a teardrop design would mean the loss of the external antenna, which would be disappointing from an aesthetic point of view, but something I could live with.

By "teardrop," I am referring to the tapered look from top to bottom when viewed from a side-profile. I like the rounded edges of the original iPhone and slight hump on the back of the 3G because those are symmetrical (they are also nicer to hold than the iPhone 4).

    Nooooo!

After waiting two years for TMO to get the iPhone, I just threw up my arms in disgust at the merger news and moved over to VZ. Wish I could get confirmation before my thirty days with VZ are up.

For those of you talking trash about TMO's network: While their overall coverage is not as good as VZ's, their speed network wide is better than either VZ or AT&T. Much better. Much, much better. Trust me. I know.

Not hard to do when TMobile has hardly any customers compared to AT&T and Verizon ;)

I want one of these (which I can probably do without):

    Nikon 24mm f/1.4
    http://alphaod.com/pics/mr02/mr_24f14-112910.png

But I would really like one of these:

    Nikon TC-17E II teleconverter
    http://alphaod.com/pics/mr02/mr_tc17e-112910.png

I could definitely use it to increase the focal length of my telephoto and only sacrificing 1.5 f-stops.

So it finally stopped snowing this morning, skies overcast. I couldn't stand it anymore, so I got out and headed just a little north of town to a closed ended valley - elevation 6300 feet. There are a bunch of old abandoned farm houses scattered about. Here's one of them.

Well go and tell that to Dell and their massive market share and we'll see if they take you seriously and change their marketing strategy.
Dell is already changing their market strategy. The whole idea behind their XPS line is that they want to get out of the "Walmart Mentality" approach to marketing. They find it hard on the margins. And wouldn't that more accurately be described as Dells "massive, shrinking, market share"?

Wow, I haven't been anywhere but here for a really long time, I'm starting to solidify I think. I spent some time in Europe long before the wall came down, but then again the Huns were still roaming around - or was that dinosaurs...

We'll give ya' a while to get set up before we set the hounds on ya' :D In the mean time maybe you have a calculator or abacus you can use in your spare time, ya' know, foldingbyhand I think it's called :p

    Cheers and welcome back!

I appreciate the welcome back! The Navy has had me all over the world this last decade! I'm going to Norfolk, Va for my last couple of years before I retire. Hopefully my wife will have her college education completed by then and I can stay home and play "Mr. Mom"........and goof around with Blender and the farm full time (oh, and tinker with my cars too:D)!!

Apple doesn't compromise their overall vision and functionality for single features like all the other handset makers.

So this is no surprise. This is why the individual iOS devices completely dominate their market segments.

The word "same" never occurs in the text, which never contemplates multiple installs.

It says you can't use it in a virtual machine. End of story. End of discussion.

Vista Business and Ultimate include additional licenses to also run the same licensed copy of Vista running natively on the licensed device in a virtualization environment as well.

In other words, if you purchase or build a PC with Windows Vista Ultimate, you can use that same installation and license to install it in a virtualization environment on that same platform. That goes beyond what has been done on any other platform for virtualization, and why the limitation is specifically delineated on Vista Home:

You may not use the software installed[1] on the licensed device[2] within a virtual (or otherwise emulated) hardware system.

[1] This means "the software" (i.e., Vista Home Basic or Premium) is already installed on a licensed device.

[2] The "licensed device" is the device that Vista Home is already installed on, and that license may not be reused to also install it in a virtualization environment, which you CAN do with Vista Business and Ultimate, because Microsoft includes additional licenses specifically for virtualization use, which is why there are all these specifics about virtualization use on the lower end Vista versions in the EULA in the first place.

The Vista Business/Ultimate EULA on the same topic states:

    6. USE WITH VIRTUALIZATION TECHNOLOGIES. You may use the software installed on the
licensed device within a virtual (or otherwise emulated) hardware system on the licensed device. If
you do so, you may not play or access content or use applications protected by any Microsoft digital,
information or enterprise rights management technology or other Microsoft rights management
services or use BitLocker. We advise against playing or accessing content or using applications
protected by other digital, information or enterprise rights management technology or other rights
management services or using full volume disk drive encryption.

This is because Vista Business and Ultimate include additional licenses so that you can use the same copy, legally ALSO within a virtualization environment on that same system. This is more than is possible with any other commercial OS, from a licensing perspective. The restrictions on Vista Home are ONLY restricting you from using it in a VM on the device where it's already installed. If you buy Vista Home standalone as a retail box, and it's not installed anywhere else, you are free, legally and technically, to use it in a VM to your heart's content.

Obviously, if they are saying you are not allow, that means they can not stop you from doing so. It's a simple warning beacuse if you call them up about a problem in VM mode they will simply tell you it is not support and you will have to pay another $200 to get any support.

Remember once someone sells you something they can not tell you how you can use it. That like you buying a car and in the purchase agreement they tell you your not allow to wreck the car. Grant it, they do not have to warranty it after you wreck it, but if you want to wreck it, that is up to you.

Maybe they're testing this so that when AT&T and T-Mo combine, future iPhones will be able to use the T-Mobile 3G bands, even though the phone would still be exclusive to AT&T (and of course, Verizon).

Im actually kinda shocked android has more devices using its OS than Apple does.

Why? Any manufacturer can grab it for free instead of paying a fee. Makes sense they would flood the market with lots of copycat Android models. Just look at the Asian market where there are hundreds of Android phones, many of whom are Android in name only (cannot use the Android App market, etc.) but useful to the knockoff phone manufacturer who can grab it free, slap it into their devices and sell their stuff as "Android" to the marketplace. Given that there are hundreds of different Android model phones, it's a wonder it isn't even more popular than it is.

That is a dude not a girl.
    We disagree.

Polis, who said she had a sex-change operation to become a woman

I'm going to ask a dumb question here: if the victim had already undergone the surgery, then how could the perpetrators know the victim was genetically male? I'm not trying to be snarky, but there's a logical disconnect, unless I'm missing something.

just goes to show people still want to be able to see flash on their iphones reguardless of how bloated

Not an accurate deduction from this app's popularity.

See, this app is a very slick implementation of Flash on the iOS. No bloat, and everything's fast and battery efficient, because iOS sees it as HTML5. All the bloat and processing is on the Skyfire servers.

All you can tell from Skyfire's success is that people want Flash as long as it is as good or better than HTML5.

right now its reformatting into a RAID, boss wanted to RAID it. lost 2 frames no biggie. here's what i got before that

    [22:05:44] pleted 2500 out of 250000 steps (1%)
    [22:54:37] Completed 5000 out of 250000 steps (2%)

so thats about 50 mins per frame. i was thinking maybe that was due to the clock speed being 2.26 or the HT. the old 3ghz MP does a frame in the low to mid 40s

wont get to test until tomorrow

I don't really think the kid is rolling with a credit card of his own at 11 years of age. So maybe the mother should think about setting up a iTunes account for her son with a apple gift card or pre-pay visa. That way he can't run wild like Hulkamania with her credit card.... I wish my parents would of let me have free access to there visa as a kid

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Mobile/8G4)

It doesn't really matter at this point. Black or white, it's the iPhone. It'll still sell out.

yah the white iPhone looks fresh as hell!

I'll admit it does look pretty sweet. The metal and white. It seems to work from what I can tell from the pics.

$70 for a mouse? Give me a break.

I just bought a two button scrollwheel mouse for $1.67. There's no reason for it to cost more than that. $10 is too much.

Well, there is a reason...wireless (particularly bluetooth). Just because you don't want it doesn't mean other people do.

By "small render farm", I mean small! It's made up of 6 Dell GX270, running P4 2.4ghz single core, with my MP as the Que controller (Ubuntu via Parallels). But they should working out pretty good for continuous folding for the time being. I'm building 5 dual processor, dual core Xeon servers (all 2.66ghz) to replace the Dells but that won't happen until the end of December (i'm getting ready to move from Japan back to the States in two weeks and I have most of my stuff packed up). Once I get settled back in the States and have the new servers running, I should be able to commit some good firepower towards the team effort.
