Yep.. Cheer up however we can.

note to myself: obessesion with anything is no good. Don't check back at this site ten times every hour.

    LOL

good one my friend...but even with SKIL how many of us are already sooooooooo frustrated and sick of waiting that we / they may still think twice about enduring the famous I-485 stage nuances (name checks, background checks and all other checks) and with all that in mind still decide to 'hang in' and eventually get GC ..?

Anyways, I'm afraid GC just turned into a great 'Waiting for Godot' situation - but we haven't realized it yet

First of all Thanks to GCGreen and WantGC. I really am grateful to both of you. Without any know-how I had to bite dust from others.

I have the copy of my labor and 140. So I am looking for a job that is similar to those responsibilities and have the same SOC code. Just that the tools would differ. But what I understood is that if the tools change it doesn't create any problem. I just need to take care of the SOC code and responsibilities.

Of course I will take help from a lawyer, but I just wanted that initial boost to start looking.

There is an analysis on the upcoming immigration bill in washingtonpost.com on the frontpage of online version of the paper. In BOLD.

(This article is also crossposted on immigrationportal.com. Eventually I am going to cease posting there and post exclusively here)

The article majorly deals with the politics of the immigration bill coming in Feb 2006 on both side of the aisle and people's opinion in general.

There is no mention of legal immigration. None. Nothing. NADA. ZIP.

Its all about illegal immigrants(mostly mexicans who jumped the fence on the southern border). And guess what?? Majority of America is against illegal immigration. And my fear is that the winds blowing against illegal kind of immigration will sweep us all in the same bundle and punish the LEGAL kind of immigration. Kind of like GUILT by association.

Here is a quote from washingtonpost.com(Most read inside Washington DC)

The Post-ABC News poll found that four in five Americans think the government is not doing enough to prevent illegal immigration, with three in five saying they strongly hold that view.

The same poll found that 56 percent of Americans believe that illegal immigrants have done more to hurt the country than to help it, with 37 percent saying they help the country. About three in five Republicans and a bare majority of Democrats agreed that illegal immigrants are detrimental to the country.

See the whole thing here : http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/01/02/AR2006010201376.html

My regtrogression brothers and sisters.....IF WE WANT TO END RETROGRESSION and end the H1B blackout WE HAVE GOT TO SEPARATE OURSELVES FROM THE ILLEGAL KIND and point out the congress and the general populace that there is another kind of immigration which is called ***TADA*** LEGAL IMMIGRATION. Its involves a process of granting permenant residence and citizenship to folks who are

    1) Present Legally.
    2) Entered LEgally.
    3) Work legally.
    4) Pay their income taxes.
    5) Pay their social security and medicare taxes even when there is no guarantee of the benefits of either until they actually become citizens.
    6) Play by the rules, file petitions for work permits and for permenant residency.

Our goal is not the hurt or help the cause of illegals but to make sure that we dont get punished due to wrath against them. After all, we played by the rules and we wait in line by the rules. We dont need amnesty. We need fair deal.

I once again urge you all to channel your energy to immigrationvoice.org This is a non-profit established with goal of ending retrogression using the next immigration bill as a vehicle. Its folks like you and me Losing sleep over retrogression. People like us wondering "What wrong did I do to deserve another 5-6 years of H1B extensions". I am not asking you to put money upfront. It does not cost anything to enroll or join or volunteer. But pooling ideas is invaluable. Stop sulking. Act now.

Every body knows about PERM system glitches before July28,2005, they gave an oppertunity to refile for all those who got rejected on software issues, so we do not need to go back to year old data and I am quite a frequent visitor to immigrationportal, at least 5 visits a day from last sep'05

Guys, I really appreciate he was able to come up with some number, but you would be able to decide how much this is helpful, I am not buying his PERM conversion denial rate
    .

Yes, you can take "Leave without pay" - you will not be out of status. Even if you are not getting paid you still are on company payroll.

As someone suggested earlier, if a woman on H1-B is pregnant, she can surely take maternity leave without going out of status.

Until now, the student community and the OPT community felt that IVs goals were not in sync with them.

OPT is now being considered to be extended for 29 months. This is a big boost for students who want to pursue their American dream.

So, if you are a student or an OPT candidate, you are definitely benefitted by this move.

This is a call for all students/OPT to unite under IV umbrella. Please sign on this thread and pledge your support to IV. Spread the message among your community. Urge everyone to join IV. Start getting active on IV. Most of you are young talented folks from all over the world, and your talent and freshness will keep IV going strong.

So join IV now and join your State chapters. Spread the message among your friends.

    Check with this:

If I filed my case previously without an application for employment authorization or advance parole, how do I apply now for those benefits?

If you failed to apply for work card or a travel document at the time you filed your adjustment of status application, you need to wait until you received a receipt for the I-485 petition. You can then apply for work and travel benefits by providing a copy of the receipt along with the other forms and supporting documentation.

As far as I remember there was case with one of the IV member whose EAD/AP checks got cashed although he filed on July 2nd. He was the only case of its type and I remember someone from the core clarifying that Aman or pappu helped that guy file his 485 case but his EAD was filed separately. I'm not sure how they manage to do that.
You may want to PM pappu or logiclife for that.

USCIS Phoenix or Dallas Lockbox, based on where you live.

I think this box is applicable to you

Based on a pending or approved Form I-140, Immigrant Petition for Alien Worker. (Note: You cannot concurrently file form I-485 and form I-140 at a USCIS Lockbox facility at this time. Refer to the Filing Instructions on Form I-140 if you want to file the forms concurrently.)

(You must include a copy of the Form I-797C Notice of Action, showing that your Form I-140 was accepted or approved.)

Please note the addresses were revised fairly recently (12/03/2009). Your lawyer may not be aware of that.

Everyone is entitled to have an opinion. When it comes to opinions, though, there's a difference between the majority wow gold (http://www.wowpl.de), of people and celebrities like actors, athletes, and rock stars. If you're an average person, only your family and friends care about your opinion. If you’re famous, the whole world listens, or so it seems sometimes. Is this the way if should be? I don't think so. We shouldn't pay attention to famous people's opinions just because of who they are. Being a famous basketball player doesn't make someone an expert on environmental issues. However, that basketball player has a better opportunity to be heard than most wow gold (http://www.wowleveln.de), people do. If that player feels very strongly about an issue, he can use his fame to draw attention to it and get other people involved. That way they can saw attention and needed dollars to that issue. People who are rich put their money behind a cause. In the same way, famous people are using their most valuable asset. In their case, it's not money. It's their name recognition. According to IRS
    http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/0,,id=179211,00.html
If any member has ITIN, economic stimulus package benefit will not be given.

You can definitely give it a try because when we went to apply SSN for my wife, they didn't ask for EAD even though we were carrying it. They might be able to give based on AOS, but I am not sure. You can give it a try since you have nothing to lose.

If the JOB requires EB2 then you can file EB2 and not because your qualification/experience is equivalent to EB2. If your company can prove why you are the best suited for this JOB which is EB2 category, there should not be any problem. Given the circumstances - filing EB3 will be a safe bat.
Another important thing whole EB2 and EB3 classification is , it does not matter how much experience or educational credetials a benificiary has. The job should require it too...

A more aggressive statement (for selling) not too far from the truth...

There are 400-500,000 waiting in EB queues. Most of them would prefer to leave the country, than wait for 10-20 (30?) years for a green card.
Also at least 65,000 workers come in every year. We will also lose most of this every year unless GC is fixed.

(I am not talking about those who want to stay for 2-4 years only and go back)
