2 weeks back , An agent from Homeland security came to visit my office and spoke to my Employer and me . He wanted to make sure , i work there and everything is true.
He also saw all the H1B documents and took photos of our dental office.
So ,yup! it is true. I m working there since 2003 and just got another extension till 2012 on H1B. Still waiting for GC!!!

Yes it is possible to apply for H1b, it will be a new H1B. You will have to go outof the country and enter using H1 to readjust your VISA status

Thanks, Sanju. I was wondering where to ask for assurance; looks like you have found a place. I too need some help: last time my fingerprint check took almost 8 months (!) and I gave one set of them again today. Can somebody assure me that they will comeback before the dates become U again. Just an update -
I just called USCIS for the FP notice and she mentioned that the appointment has been ordered but the notice has not been sent yet. Probably because the newark ASC must be overbooked. She asked me to wait for 30 days from now and if I don't receive anything, call them back.
Will wait and hope...

My lawyer sent me the fedex tracking sheet for the I-485 package sent to:

850 S Street
Lincoln, NE 68508
I did not see any PO Box on the Fedex tracking sheet. I am not sure if she put the PO Box on the shipping label or not??
Is it a big deal?? Will my application be accepted.
Please help
po box is for usps delivery only. fedex doesn't delivery mails addressed to po box.

My wife's EAD expires later this month. She doesn't intend to work; so does she need to renew her EAD? She doesn't have another status like h1 or h4. Will she be out of status when the EAD expires?
The bigger question is that I got my GC a few months ago; but she hasn't got hers. We had an interview at the local office; the officer said he's recommended approval of the 485 and we should get it soon. This happened 2 months ago and still we don't see the 485 approval. The officer also mentioned we could go to the local office any time and get a GC stamp in the passport. Is this true? Can we just take an infopass and get the stamp right away? Do they do that? I called the call center but they just say it's pending and they won't give me any information.

For the status question, your wife doesn't need EAD. Pending I-485 or AOS is a valid status to stay in the US. That said, some states like CA doesn't take I-485 receipt notice as a valid document for issuing license. They asked for EAD. So if your wife needs to drive she may have to get EAD.
For your second question, I assume the PD is still current. If thats the case, I would suggest taking infopass and find out the status. If you didn't get any satisfactory info, contact your senator/congressperson , ombudsman, open an SR etc. Don't sit idle waiting for USCIS to act.

Sorry forgot to provide some more details which i should have...NO i have not filed 485 as my PD is not current... my PD is Nov 2007. new company is saying they will start the GC only after 6 months....
SO looks like better to hang on to current desi company and hope for best on the H1 extension and any POE if i am traveling outside

Our lawyer requested as a interfile while filing the new I-140. EB2 dates were current at the time of filing I-140 so that was possible. Otherwise we have to send in a copy of the new I-140 to join the I-485 when one's PD is current. I am waiting for copy of the I-140 to follow up on I-485 with SR and Infopass.
I am using the existing I-485 to avoid confusion and delay. That is what is being recommended by USCIS in many AILA meetings that I am aware of.
