That guy was an orphan who made himself into a billionaire with no help from anyone. Until you can do the same he has every reason to be smug.
Even Bill Gates, for what it is worth, grew up in a nice sheltered family with rich parents.
Bill Gates was also a programmer at Apple, when Steve and company visited Xerox Parc and learned about the windows GUI concept. Bill took that concept when he left Apple and started Microsoft, then teamed up with IBM that was looking for a new OS to use with their PC's. Which they would later sell to corporate America, the government, and the military. Also with IBM clones, Windows PC's would become affordable for the average person needing a computer. Hence the reason there are more PC users than Mac users, but that is starting to change as Windows becomes less secure and more bloated.

Dear Google:
Apple *already* revolutionized the music industry.
Try copying something of theirs that's a little less established.
(and then just leave it in beta like you do with everything else.)
Cheers.
In fairness to Google, no one said that they were out to destroy iTunes or anything like that. They've got a growing mobile business, and it makes sense that they want to make some cohesive media store.
Likewise, Apple is trying to grow its online/cloud services (Google's strength)! Funny, they are kind of moving towards each other in that sense...

Likewise with the Jews perhaps?
Without any doubt, whatsoever.
You face the likelihood of extinction, and see how you respond.
Jews are the best example of 'survivors' on the planet at the moment.

I think everybody should be able to see how many positives and negatives specific posters have given. e.g. I gave a few +1s today and no -1s so somewhere on my profile or under my username it should say 3 +1s given, 0 -1s given or something like that.

The OP is shockingly confused. When it says that you can't reuse an invalidated NSTimer, that just means you have to create a new instance. You can reuse that pointer as much as you want once you invalidate and release it.

Plus Android devices seem loaded with uninstallable Google services.
I think we're all confused as to what you're talking about. Can you elaborate? Are you talking about:
Google Maps? Google Sync? Google Search? Heck, those are "uninstallable" on the iPhone.
Android phones often add Google Navigation and Google Voice Input, both of which are excellent and very useful.
Of course, in either iOS or Android's case, you can simply not use them.

Huh. They must've gone to the bullpen -- we're starting to see some relief bitching.
Somebody has already tried that FDR quote. And I replied:
Our labor unions are not narrow, self-seeking groups. They have raised wages, shortened hours and provides supplemental benefits. Through collective bargaining and grievance procedures, they have brought justice and democracy to the shop floor. But their work goes beyond their own job, and even beyond our borders. For the labor movement is people. Our unions have brought millions of men and women together ... and given them common tools for common goals. -- John F. KennedyAnyone else on the board, please feel free to borrow that quote whenever somebody invokes FDR.
Now: corporate contributions are legal money laundering operations. If you follow the money, I pay for goods which go into company funds which are used to contribute to buy Republican candidates who are dedicated to passing corporate-friendly laws that make my air dirtier and my food unhealthier, and that lower my standard of living until they finally ship my job to another country. Nice racket they have going. Has anybody ever noticed that the well never dries of money to buy off our government? I just love watching them cry about regulation; very classy.
The Wisconsin senators, on the other hand, are spoiled children...you know, just like Abe Lincoln (http://politicalwire.com/archives/2011/02/24/when_lincoln_fled.html). ;)

I'm not ashasmed that our country was unprepared to deal with this
i am.
The blame will go straight to the top. Straight to George. He should have cut short his vacation on the ranch and been on a plane on day 1. This arguement will go around and around in circles, but look, people could have been saved if the administration had not cut funds to FEMA and redirected them to the war in Iraq. There were multiple interviews before the hurricane with people saying that the levy's would not hold if the hurricane hit hard. If Bill could get impeached because he got head, then is it unreasonable to hold George acountable for this? Am I the only one who feels this way?
guess so. This is my opinion, and I am entitled to it.

What should I be willing to learn? That some people feel with every inch of their being that they were put in the wrong body?
I fully understand that and I am not about to argue it. I believe they deserve every right any other person is entitled to. I believe they are born this way and it is not a choice.
So what am I hesitant to "learn"?

The iMac is all aluminum, and it needs the wi-Fi signal, and it seems to work fine.
Yes but the iMac is not 3G, only Wi-Fi. The black antena cover is for 3G reception. :)

Bought my very first mac, core 2 duo macbook 2 ghz white. Didn't know they would be on sale, I had been saving this cash for a mac since the rumors of core 2 duo laptops started. I'm so happy to have finally switched now, hopefully the results of my music projects will be better. Although right now.... I'm pretty much just playing with widgets, lol.

There is no beta of Windows 8 yet so it is hard to say. MS can add million new features to make it sound good on paper and then fail it like they did with Vista. In the end, the most important thing is stability. Windows 7 is great and I really hope W8 will take it even further.

So I just watched a bit of the Bill Gates keynote at CES. It was streaming live at 500k with no problems. Is this because there isn't as many people watching it?
Probably. :D BTW, you have a link to that? Edit: nvm I found it on MS's site. (http://www.microsoft.com/events/executives/billgates.mspx)

Probably not. They'll release new nanos after the student rebate is over.
not true....last year they introduced the nano before the student rebate was over with the mini.

At this point I've lost all interest in iPod rumours. Such repetition, and rarely anything right.

It'll show up when Jobs wants it to, and no sooner.

but ATT and their admitted 30% call drop rate is truly sad.
AT&T never admitted to 30% call drop rate. An employee at an apple store told a customer that in the NYC area at&t drops 30% of it's calls. And the internet ran wild with it. It was anecdotal evidence, not hard facts and detailed research, not from at&t, and about the NYC phone network, not about the nationwide network. It was an offhand comment by an apple store employee.
But we wouldn't want to get our facts straight now would we?

For those of you running Aperture on a Mac Pro, did you notice the new RAM requirement on http://www.apple.com/aperture/specs/? It says "2GB of RAM required for Mac Pro." I've been running Aperture just fine on my new Mac Pro with the standard 1GB of RAM. Like many new Mac Pro owners, I've been holding off on upgrading the RAM until it gets a little cheaper. The 1.5 update installer better not refuse to install on my Mac because of insufficient RAM; I'll be pretty upset if it does. :(

Same here, price is 300 for 2 1gig sticks here in the UK, so I've been waiting too. Would Apple release an upgrade that could conceivably be automatically installed via software update that would then cripple software you've paid 350 for? Hope not :(
