Unfortunately they are still seriously lacking in ports. Digital DVI only...no VGA, S-Video, etc with input toggle switch. No easy way to hook up an Xbox 360 for instance. Or to give the monitor a second life as a tv if you upgrade to larger displays.
I hope they change their stance on this because it's a deal breaker for me.

The problem with the US is out transportation system was never laid out for a good mass transit. We have massive urban sprawl and no real way solve that problem. Add in the fact that rail systems were never designed into the system so retrofitting them is will be very costly and very difficult to do.
We have plenty of rail, and we are building more. The problem is that people don't ride it. Just as we have plenty of fuel efficient cars, and more are coming to market - but people are still buying SUVs. We [rightly] blame oil companies for being grasping and short-sighted. But consumers also bear much of the blame.
As for the mass eletric cars I think you pass over my point about how most of them will be charged at night during off peak hours which means for the most part the grid can take a a huge number of them before we will start having a real issue.
It still would not even begin to handle the strain generated by millions of new electric cars suddenly appearing in driveways across America. Large-scale adoption of electric cars would just make coal and oil get burned faster by power companies. Yes, power plants are more efficient than most cars in producing energy. But we are still burning fossil fuels and polluting. Also, has anyone done a study to compare the true efficiency of the best full electrics vs an efficient, equivalent diesel or gas car? For example, given an identical amount of oil, which vehicle uses it more efficiently? A diesel hatchback or an electric that gets it's juice from a power plant burning oil? I'd be curious to see the results. I'm not trying to sound skeptical - I just don't know what the comparison would reveal.
We need something to replace the use of gas. Hybrids I will say are a great thing to bridge between our combustion engine and what ever is next. Things like the volt I think are the best examples of the bridge because we just need to replace the power generator and that is fairly easy to do compared to having to figure out some other type of engine to move the car. That said, I was laughing at the video.

You have to be able to PROVE damages.
As for causing the companies damages, remember these guys probably screwed up about 2 minutes worth of each presentation they messed with... We just happened to see it repeatedly, and non-stop. Don't forget those presentations are made every 5-10 minutes every day for 3-4 days... In the grand scheme of things, I have a hard time believing anyone was *really* damaged.
That said, I'm going to be manning our booth at Macworld next week. I'm disabling the IR receivers so nobody comes by with an Apple remote, trying to trigger front row on all our laptops!! :)

I'm starting to doubt page 1 rumors just as much as I doubt Page 2 rumors. Free-for-all is fun, and I agree that the TI cheat was irritating, but FFA is really only scratching the surface of the multiplayer. Either way, there's no doubting for me that Black Ops is jerky, graphically and sonically inferior, and basically a poor cousin. Roll on MW3. I think I might sell Black Ops it's that bad.
FFA was the only multiplayer mode worth playing in MW2. The rest sucked. Honestly Infinity Ward lost the plot after CoD 2 since then they have been well below par.

I certainly hope that Apple doesn't develop a video iPod using the same materials that they continue to use on the 5G iPod.
How Apple can put out a video product that scratches with even the gentlest handling is beyond me. I have not yet bought a 5G iPod because I don't want to shell out $350 bucks for something that scratches so easily.
With the release of the latest Nano in aluminum I can see that Apple is aware of the problem. But they failed to upgrade the plastic on the 80GB iPod. The 4G iPod and earlier didn't have this scratch prone problem.
I would hate to see them pass on this faulty scratch magnet material to any new iPod models.
Apple, please get off the dime and fix this very annoying problem.

Actually there are some pretty innovative companies around. We here on this forum are just a bit too much focused on Apple. Apple is good to innovate on design, not that much on technology. There are some companies like Archos, Sony, LG that release interesting products too.

Apple products look unique from the outside, but in reality they are the same devices others have but in different packages.

Ahhh, but once you get it right it feels good that you only took 3 days this time, the last time took a week or more :p each time gets a little less painful, usually anyway. :rolleyes:

I do understand where Dejo, Balamw and the others are coming from though. And frankly, they are probably better suited to help you than I am. I don't have a lot of experience with Objective-C and Cocoa, not like they do, having mostly come into it recently.
Back to the code, here is a photo of my connections (ignore canceBigtimer). What you say is true I don't know how NSTimer works entirely , just some parts, I realize that and it is one of the reason I postpone my timer for a future update (need to study it).
I have two timers, because, like I said.. I don't have full knowledge of timers. I know now that 1 timer is enough, even if I use two timers and start them at the same time, the log only shows 1 loop and the countdown in separate labels show e.g. 59 in one and 58 in another and so on.
Ok, how about we work on making 1 timer work then ? The code you posted is very complicated and I don't think it has to be this complicated. Going 1 timer would simplify this.
I see your Start Button is associated to 3 actions. Is this really what you want ? Let's simplify this. As an exercise, make 1 method, call it startTimer (like I did) and have only that action associated with your start button. From there, you can call the other methods yourself as needed.
Once you have modified the code in this way, post again what you have in full, what it is doing and what you think it should be doing. We'll go from there.

No, the variables are "fine" where they are. They would be better positionned in the @interface block and declared as instance variables, but implementation scope globals work too.
What you need to do however is reset those if you want your timer to start back at 0. Somewhere in your "stop/reset" code, there needs to be an initialization of those back to 0 :
seconds = 0;
minutes = 0;
If your Cancel button is what should reset it, then this should be right now in newActionTimer. But ideally, we'll get rid of that function when you simplify the code down to 1 timer.
Look at my NSLog outputs in my screenshot earlier. There's 3 methods there. updateLabel, cancelTimer, startTimer. This should have given you a big indication of how not complicated you should have made this.
If you want 3 buttons, start, reset, stop, you'd technically need 4 methods, as follows :

-(IBAction) stopTimer: (id) sender;
-(IBAction) resetTimer: (id) sender;

Ok fellows, thanks for the waiting, my new house is a mess but at least all my furniture is here now. I follow both of your examples ( wlh99's E-mail project and the great explanation that Knight showed here). I first started a new project in order to avoid confusion and made some changes, the result is what I think " a working timer " with start, stop and reset buttons. If I see the code now it seems a bit obvious why the timer never stopped before. I can tell you right now that I never reset the global variables inside any cancel or reset button thus the timer always continued. I think that the first variable (NSInteger seconds = 0 before the first method) gets called only once after that we reset it to 0 using the reset or cancel method (we can do it separately like knight said), in my case I assign reset to be the one to set that to 0 and cancel to invalid the timer.
Knight and wh99, if you like to see the project running and tell me your throughs, just give me your E-mail addresses (I have Warren's already) so I can share it with you. For obvious reasons I'm not posting it and if some of you wonder why, it's for same reasons nobody posted the complete working code despite being able to make a timer in less than 3 minutes. I can't imagine why Apple would have an event like this if there was going to be only Disney content available.
Remember that when tv shows were first made available, there weren't many to choose from.
Even if it is just Disney right now, that along with new iPods is enough for this much hype, especially when they want the press before the holiday season.

They may think it's cracked, but they'll find that things like the tuning tables for Logic's software instruments are all out of tune rendering the instruments useless. I'll guess that there are many other subtle little things the developers do to purposely screw up Logic Pro when it's not run with the actual XSkey (dongle), even if someone attempts to use a virtual dongle as a substitute. I'm glad they do because it keeps the value in my investment.

For stuff like a SMPTE time ruler and big SMPTE transport display, you have to open an autoload with them already in the project. Same goes for project manager - you have to open an autoload (or just a normal project) with the project manager as a screenset. The reason this is different is with the 7.1 version, you get all the pro features just not the ways to get to them (hence me going on about shells and cores all the time).
So far, ive managed to get everything working the same as Pro except some key commands, and there doesnt seem to be an aliasing feature.
It looks like theres workarounds for everything, its just finding them. Eventually ill post up a project with all the missing Pro features in so everyone can just pick and choose what they want to use for their autoload.
The Plug-ins thing is kinda annoying, but im starting to get that to work as well. Basically, to get the instruments, you just have to do a bit of renaming and copying in the Contents>Resources folder if you open up the Logic Pro package - it reads all the instruments from there. You will see an EXS24 but it will show up as an EXS24P due to Express, so you can just install a standalone EXS24 using the installers that are all over the place and it will recognise it."
again... maybe he is ********ting, but many, many people were commenting after several of his posts thanking him for helping them get a fully functional express copy with all the pro features working for them as well...

you might be right ... im not sure... but this led me to do some more research and it appears that someone has it working... i wont post a link because it concerns piracy but this is one of his quotes...

For stuff like a SMPTE time ruler and big SMPTE transport display, you have to open an autoload with them already in the project. Same goes for project manager - you have to open an autoload (or just a normal project) with the project manager as a screenset. The reason this is different is with the 7.1 version, you get all the pro features just not the ways to get to them (hence me going on about shells and cores all the time).
