Bloggers often struggle to gain acceptance as a valid and legitimate source of news, and with this stunt (see link) Gizmodo have helped to undermine those who have worked so hard to gain credibility within an elitist industry.

I'm not without a sense of humour, but when Giz started screwing with a live presentation they crossed a line. This type of behaviour shouldn't be condoned in my opinion and a strong signal should be sent out to those responsible. Who's to say that they wouldn't interfere with an Apple event? What do you make of their actions?

Too bad that Map is a load of BS... I live in Coral Springs FL, just north of Ft Lauderdale... Verizons map says there is 3g coverage there... In my house and anywhere around my house i get 1 bar.... 1 lowzy bar!!! I switched back to AT&T and whoa, 5 bars, full signal, all the time! I don't understand why people bitch about AT&T... No phone company is any better... They all suck... Pull your panties up and move on...

I dare say that different technology's i.e. GSM vs CDMA could also be the problem in your area.

When I had Verizon, the worse and only problem was with a Razor the tech was an idiot........... Other than that very very stable network, cannot say that for AT&T

The house is a little bigger than those drawings depict, as there are stairs leading to a downstairs that is not shown. Probably to the 5th bedroom that is mentioned, likely a downstairs guest room of sorts or something.

Agree with everyone else though. Simple, not over the top. I like.

    Just like communism!

Love your screen name! Reminds me of someone else here. :p

As for this article. I'm sure it's here so we can see whats going on in e industry. Looks to me, Androids free-for-all is about to end for the average user.

Of course, on the iPhone and Android devices, the people who want around the system will find a way.

Haaaaaaa just shared a launch day story, and the majority of you would have hauled ass with iPad in hand for the price I paid. Haters lmfao

not so much. With that kind of screw up, I would've gone back. yes, you are bragging about someone elses mistake and how you capitalized on it.

Douches eventually get theirs. People like that tend to get what's coming to them 10 fold, regardless if you feel you need to debate if it's karma or "moral code". I bet you're one those people who finds a wallet with $50, credit cards, driver's license and a condom and tries to use all the contents then throws the wallet away. Do you kick dogs too?

Your other option is to go back to Best Buy and explain what happened, saying you didn't realize the error until settling your bank accounts while doing bills. That's if you actually have any bank accounts.. or have a conscious at all.

    Have an adequate day.

Thanks. However, that site doesn't seem to update its information. Some of it dates back at least five years.

For example, I looked around my area, and most of the well known dead zones marked on the map were resolved a few years ago with new towers.

The site does update the information. Zoom in and click on the "deadspots" The date reported is shown. I clicked on 25 for Verizon and 25 for AT&T they were all reported in 2008 or 2009.

Target is the object that the message is going to execute isn't it. For example, if it's self, that means that those parameters are for the timer object you just created. Please correct me if I'm wrong, I'm not trying to challenge your knowledge, just to learn as I go.

If you see my code before, I'm using NSDate for my timePicker. One favor, I'm not answering more quiz questions, I get your point.. I still need to learn more fundamentals.. I get it, just please contribute with the thread to find solutions or not.. (there are many Professional Forums).

If this were a "Professional Forum" I would just give you an answer. I want to know what you do and do not know, so I can help you learn it. So please don't take the questions as condescending, they will help us help you.

Think of objects as people, so to speak. Not only is the NSTimer an object, but so is your viewcontroller. So are the buttons. These objects know how to do things. These things they know how to do are methods. A message is an instruction for an object to do something.

cancelIt: is a method in your viewcontroller object, as are all the methods we have discussed. Then self would refer to the viewcontroller, not the timer. Self would refer to the timer if you had access to apples code that implemets the timer and you were modifiying that.

So a target is the object you are sending a message to. The message is the name of the method you want the object to execute.

[aTimer invalidate]; // tells the timer pointed to by aTimer to execute the invalidate method

When you press a button, a message is sent. The target and method are chosen when you make the connection in Interface Builder. In your case, the target is your viewcontroller, and the method is one of the start or cancel methods.

I asked the question becasue it is fundamental to what an NSTimer is/does.

An NSTimer sends a message to an object at regular intervals.

In your case, the NSTimer is telling your viewcontroller to execute the echoIt: every second. The important part is that your viewcontroller is an object, echoIt: is something your viewcontroller is doing (not the timer). You only have one viewcontroller, so anything it stores (for example seconds) will persit for any NSTimer you create.

Now look at the NSTimer documentation:

This is a great sale for those who do not qualify for the education discount.

My friend is buying an iMac for his girlfriend and I think he'll end up pulling the trigger today online.

It's only $101.00 off, but that's enough to cover a few extras.

What should I be willing to learn? That some people feel with every inch of their being that they were put in the wrong body?

I fully understand that and I am not about to argue it. I believe they deserve every right any other person is entitled to. I believe they are born this way and it is not a choice.

So what am I hesitant to "learn"?

Feral children think they are animals

@Evoken, we haven't seen the full features list yet for Lion. That's going to be announced at WWDC.

The rest here isn't directed to you, just my opinion of what Lion is supposed to be.

If we consider Lion to be an improvement/refinements to Snow Leopard, it's already an impressive update, just like Snow Leopard was to Leopard. The slight changes in the UI are noticeable over Snow Leopard. The animations, the buttons, scrollbars gives Lion a refresh of the current interface.

The Mac App Store isn't a feature for Lion, it has nothing to do with Lion. It's just another Mac App that's bundled with Lion just like Mail/iChat.

Full Screen Mode is just an interface API which are useful for some people on the Airs and laptops. Some people only use one app for a few hours, and the full screen mode can be useful for them.

Auto-save is a big feature because it changes the way the applications save the files for you in the background. You no longer have to worry about saving in case of a crash and you can now just close/quit the app and return from the same state with auto-resume feature, basically the same way apps work in the background on the iOS platform. Imagine the ability to work on a big project in Numbers or Keynote and you just want to close it for now. Come back in an hour, open them again and you're back to where you started an hour ago. No open last file required. It's just a refinement of the "Close App, Open App, Open Last File Used" process.

Combine Auto-save, auto-resume and Versions, you have a new way of handling files in applications.

Everybody should set their expectations low for Lion, consider it a refinement of the front end for Leopard while Snow Leopard was a refinement of the backend.

Apple isn't about new stuff, they're about refining the same stuff in a different way. That's what they have done with iPhone, iPad and soon, Lion. iPhone wasn't the first device with a touchscreen, it was just refined by integrating both software and hardware in a way that it provide a much better interface. Innovations does not mean that it's for brand new ideas/products only, it can also mean an idea/product that's used in a different way.

Updated iMac (without screen issues)… make an option for a quad! :)

I know the chance for the iMac to be updated is small, but this is what the Buyer's Guide says: Days Since Update - 154 (Avg = 185)

I'm just saying, but is it really that far-fetched that we'll see Penryn iMacs on the 15th?

… Oh, and I want the iPhone to come to Norway!!! :D

At that point, why not use a jailbroken iPhone?

Android kind of loses it charm.

Because no root/jailbreak is needed in order to do tethering, even if carriers disable those downloads from the Market. Because you can still download and install apps from anywhere on the internet.

But anyways, I don't think anyone would choose an OS just for one reason alone. Some might, of course.
Lots of people have been choosing the iphone over Android for years when iOS lacked tethering, for example

Its funny how the news sites word the news.. the android market has never been open. In any way. Its been less restrictive than the app store, but thats not being open, at all. I totally disagree with the people who claim android is less open every time something like this changes.

Android is "open" because google releases the latest source from time to time. (Real open source projects work in the open BTW, instead of releasing the source every big release).
That means anybody (read: carriers) can go and take a high class mobile OS for free and do with it what it wants; for better (lots of choices in software and hardware, big ecosystem) and for worse (slow updates, android modifications that suck, mobile phones that suck).
The fact that people could take android and make it even more restrictive than iOS is why it is open.

So yeah. Today android users can sideload any app without rooting/jailbreaking. Tomorrow, all carriers might start shipping phones with that feature disabled.
Thankfully, that has not happened for 99.99% of phones. But it might, because you know, as Android is open, people can modify it for both innovative improvements and new features and for locking it down.

Double edged sword :) It's not better and it's not worse, and its better and its worse. it depends on what you like/want. There is choice (and therefore competiton) between excellent mobile OSs, and that's great!

History, while interesting, has always struck me as unimportant in educating Children for essential workforce skills. An extraordinary position: members of the "essential workforce" are also usually voting citizens. Don't you think that a balanced knowledge of history is valuable in making political judgements?

Airport security is on a downward spiral, they really need to rethink the approach. Basic human dignity is being trampled on, the costs involved are skyrocketing and the whole approach just adds to making air travel unpleasant.
