That "picture" of Jobs at the cancer center is clearly not Steve Jobs. Its so obvious that isn't Jobs that its not even funny. Even though the picture is from behind, Jobs looks like he's quite fine at that table.

Why am I not surprised he's the one sitting right next to President Obama? LOL

I am not saying CR has no understanding of technology, however, Their fourth choice was Centrum.
They have gone back and forth over the years on how to test electronics. So many things are subjective, including picture quality, audio quality, gui usage quality....and they generally try to use "regular" people as the point. So they rate pretty much all HDTVs as having high points for video quality, even though there are clearly standouts to videophiles. And don't even get me started on speakers.

You really can't use CR as anything more than a single data point. You must find other data points to do research. But that doesn't mean CR is worthless, just shouldn't be your only tool.

4S. I like the name, and it makes sense to keep continuity with the previous naming scheme (3GS). I guess we'll see a true iPhone 5 next summer.

I think the next iPhone released would be called iPhone 5

    2007 - iPhone
2008 - iPhone 3G (instead of calling it iPhone 2 they wanted to promote that it had 3G speed capabilities)
2009 - iPhone 3GS (Want to call it iPhone 3, but used 3G, add S to avoid confusion
    2010 - iPhone 4 (4th version)
    2011 - iPhone 5

i used to hate film with a passion. you have to be careful about taking pictures since a 24 exposure roll always went too fast. and you always let the good one get away.

digital you just keep on snapping and find a good one later. i always laugh at my wife who tries to take the perfect picture. we had a pro at our wedding and that is the one thing i learned from him, as well as watching others. take as many pics as you can and find a good one later

don't have those Amazon placeholders a pretty bad reliability index?

Yes. Amazon doesn't know anything. They are just guessing.

That said, I'd bet money on DVD+Mac App Store being the two options. Maybe for 10.8 we'll see USB drives.

Perhaps Family Pack edition only. Or maybe have it a premium option.

For who? People who bought a 2011 iMac or MacBook in the first half of the year? That's a pretty small audience. It's possible Apple could offer a "premium" USB version for a bit more, but it *definitely* won't use thunderbolt.

If you do get a chance to talk to her again, BE CREATIVE! Send her an instant message on iChat from across the store... save her from a masked man robbing the store at gun...., well you get the picture.

Lastly, Dont get to into detail in this post... there is a possibly she or one of her co-workers cruises the macrumors forums, and she could find this really creepy or really cool :D

I sincerely apologize if I have repeated anything that someone else has said
but I think its really cool that you reached out to a community that usually deals with computer questions. :D

How would one send an instant message across the store to another computer in the same store? I realize the whole to her portion would require her presence in front of a computer, I am just talking in general, unless you signed into both and sent it to yourself or something

I decided it didn't matter to go into detail in the post because it just doesn't matter. If she is on here, or a friend is on here, well fine and dandy, I hope she remembers who I am. If she is as smart as she was cute (building the points here in case she is reading ;) ) then she can go check the member photo directory and recall what I look like, I don't care. I would dare to say that if she finds this really creepy then she probably didn't read the entire thread, because after doing so she should realize that I am just shy and unknowing, not stalkerish and creepy (at least I hope not). Either way, if she realizes who this is and is interested, she can say hi next time....guys don't mind when women act too, at least I don't :)

As far as reaching out here, well who else would I ask?
Computers, personal finances, women, life goals, car help, it's all here....I think  :D

You're pretty close to nailing it there - in truth, they're still sheep and zealots, terms that imply a lack of ability to think for oneself and an over-the-top reaction when someone else makes up, or changes, their mind for them. It's the same morons, they just rush to extremes no matter what.

    Woah, woah, woah.

First of all, the "cease and desist" letter wasn't posted here until the second page of the thread, hence all we had to go on was the other sites' reports. (And even I missed that one post until just now).

And even having read that letter, I'm still opposed to Apple's moves and intentions here. They're still trying to trademark the word "Pod", which I think is utterly farcical.

Never mind the delicious irony in Apple objecting to the phonetic similarity between iPod and MyPodder, when iPod was obviously chosen to leverage the phonetic similarity with a familiar word ("tripod") - could MyPodder not argue they were doing likewise? Never mind the fact that the Apple name was 'borrowed' from another company, and was the name of one of its products ("Classic") was taken verbatim from another company.

Isn't Walt out of New York?

I thought so too but in the review he said they used the Places feature out in and around DC so it was working in DC for the testing:

In the past week or so, my colleague Katherine Boehret and I have used Facebook Places to check in with iPhones around our home base of Washington, D.C., at stores, bars, restaurants and even our office. I also was able to check in, or tag, other Facebook members with me, like my visiting son and daughter-in-law.

I wasn't thinking of putting every article into a new structure, just say the Mac articles into the "Hardware" and "Mac Hardware" categories to see which works best.

Then any arguments on the specific structure of those can be done and the final model can be copied to the other articles, with minor changes as required.

Well what a day, Mac Expo the the Leopard launch i was pretty much at the front of the queue, well outside the Lacoste Shop anyway.

For those of you who didn't get a t-shirt and want to see the product check out http://www.flickr.com/photos/15285022@N04/ (http://www.flickr.com/photos/15285022@N04/).

My Leopard install is complete just letting Time Machine do its business now.

I've got some shots inside the store I'll get them up on Flickr ASAP.

I'm not buying a tablet until there is one that runs mac OS X (the modbook is too expensive) :D
    

I'm still a firm believer tablet computers need to come with the following to be considered "standard":
    1) Soliataire
    2) Minesweaper
    3) Disk Defrag
    4) A CD Burner

Other than that I do think Woz's comments were right on the money.

Well here we have it, an Amazon listing (http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B003UOSMDU?tag=gamersglobal-21) for the new Arcade S?

If it turns out this is correct, then 4GB onboard memory is quite an upgrade over the 512MB in the previous incarnation. I'm convinced that the Arcade S will be glossy white. Amazon seem to have changed the page slightly, as it was showing a price of €148.99.

if you think that apple have enough time to speak to every one with this istalled you are wrong! they will however stop people distributing it... this has been shown many times over the past few weeks.

i am proud to say i am running 10.5 on my top end mini, and will be updating it to leopard beta V0.2

EDIT: YAY, this fixed my problem with external hard drive crashes and makes this Super Speedy!

Since the Mic port turned into Line-In, there hasn't been any power on the port, requiring a powered input or amp. However, on the Headset jacks that support the iPhone mic on them, do have a built-in mic, even on the MacBook, but only when using the 3rd sleeve that the iPhone mic cable has.

    TEG

Hence why I said he was referring to headsets that DON'T support said jack which there are more of than there are that do support the jack.
