They NEED 2 versions of iCade - one with joystick, the other with a Trackball and Knob... ;)
100% agree. I've seen some of those self contained TV video games that are basically a joystick with RCA cables coming out the back that have a combo joystick & paddle - the joystick rotating to be the paddle. Never tried it though. (I think it was the Pole Position one.)
But not being able to spin the knob on Tempest looses some of the nostalgia for me too.

The only people who want to compare it that way are apple fans. The rest of the world rightfully compare it according to device. Smartphone OS to smartphone OS.

I smell an impending cease and detest letter from Apple. This is of course the email above is legit.
That's a lot of cease and desist letters going out to ebay then as well. Theres no law against reselling items in your store whether its an Apple item or something else.

I'd rather pay and get upgrades than have the developer abandon the app because it isn't profitable to do anymore free updates. What should Loren do when everyone that will buy Tweetie already has it? Develop updates out of the goodness of his heart?
The app store has a problem, and that's the amount of crap and cheapness of that crap. It drives the price of everything down. Factor in that ALL upgrades are free and you have a major problem for devs. You can sell an app once to each user, at next to nothing cost, and that's all you get. Yes, initially it's good when you're selling 100K apps a week but what happens when everyone's bought your app? The app store has a sustainability problem, and it will soon rear it's ugly head.
Compare it to desktop software where even the most basic apps cost $10+ and all upgrades are paid.
I'm quite happy to pay Loren �1.79 every 8-12 months for his work on Tweetie because frankly it's amazing and �1.79 is pretty much nothing.
The problem with most whambulance drivers such as yourself is pretty much the same problem with society at large. You only care about yourself and what you can get for yourself regardless if it's at the expense of others. You have no social responsibility. People's inability to look past their own nose and care about others is really quite pathetic. You don't care if Loren gets paid for his work, or for a sustainable app store. I have a new 27" imac running Elgato EyeTV hybrid and have connected the wii through the composite video input. The problem I am having is that there is a significant time lag (delay) with the wii remotes so that you cannot play games like tennis that require precise timing. You hear the sound on the remote but the action does not happen on the screen immediately. Anyone else got this problem or an idea on how to fix it?

For whatever reason, after any change in the itunes media folder, such as downloading a new mp3 or updating an iOS app, Time Machine insists on backing up the entire 30gb+ of the media folder.
Any ideas why this is happening?

Apple is going to (probably already has) develop its own map data. Map data is a strategic resource and is increasingly used for competitive advantage.
At the moment, there are two leaders in high quality map data, Navteq and TeleAtlas. There are some smaller players with much lower quality and/or much more limited coverage but these two have mostly locked up the market for the last 10 years or more.
Navteq is owned by Nokia. Before they were bought by Nokia, Navteq pretty freely licensed their map data (for a huge price) and owned the navigation device market. In the last few years, they have been cutting off access to any company that they see as competing with either Navteq or its parent company Nokia in areas they want to own.
TeleAtlas is owned by TomTom. They are much more open to licensing their data but with the major restriction that their data can't be used for turn by turn navigation.
Google was licensing TeleAtlas data until fall 2009. At that point, they had developed their own data set (by driving the roads) enough that they could use it in Android. A month later, Maps 2 came out with turn by turn directions because Google was no longer restricted in their map use. The quality of the maps was and still is lower than the TeleAtlas data but Google owns it.
Google, too, is using its map data for its own competitive purposes. They won't license it for general use, only for use within Google products or add-ons.
Apple needs map data and is either going to have to buy it or create it themselves. It's possible that Apple could buy TomTom. They're only a $2Billion market cap so it's quite doable. Other than that, there is no map data set that Apple can rely on having access to.
