It's September 1st, 2010 on the east coast, so it's time for a new monthly desktop thread!

Monthly Desktops Guidelines:

Can anybody tell me for sure if I will lose all my rollover minutes if I make the change online? I have 5 lines on a family plan and I know that I have to make the change on all 5 lines manually which I am ok with. Can somebody verify for me that nothing will change on my account such as losing rollover mins, losing corporate FAN discount, losing anything else? I simply want to change Unlimited family text to unlimited family text plus unlimited any M2M. Whenever I do an online chat with a rep or call, they always tell me I need to 'update' my plan or something (I am on a family talk 1400 plan). I don't see a reason for this but they always tell me when I 'update', i'll lose all my rollover mins so I have not 'updated'....obviously and no ill effects as of yet.

You make the change only on the main phone line -- not on each line. You should not lose your FAN. When you go online, you'll go to change your rate plan & it will have your current plan listed (1400 plus unlimited texting) & will show another plan (1400 plus unlimited texting plus mobile to any mobile). Deselect the current & select the new. You can back date it or make it effective today. Since the price is the same there will be no change to your monthly bill.

in the middle of way open area at Union Square Park in NYC had 2 dropped calls. Customer services response? Install app on iphone that lets us know where your call was dropped. Sure let me do your work, and pay for that privalage.

And how do you expect them to find out what is going on? Magic? All they wanted you to do was install an app that would let them run a diagnosis. Are they supposed to send some one over to you to take your phone and install it for you?

You do realize that that would increase the time it would take them to find the problem by, a helluva lot vs. the few seconds it would take you to install that app. And it would be wasting a lot of gas and pay time to send that person out for something you could do in a few seconds.

How lazy can you be to complain that they dare want you to do a few seconds of work so they can help you?

I've never come across a company that will baby the customer that much. Apple still insists I drive my computer over to their store for them to look at. When I was calling in about a broken monitor, I had to *gasp*, look for the serial number on my computer for Gateway. I guess you'd expect them to send some one over to do that for me?

I'm using OS X 10.4.11 Tiger so this may be different on a newer version of OS X. Do you mean Personal Web Sharing? If so, anything you want to share will need to be in the Sites folder of your User folder. There should be a sample html file and some image files in there already to get you started.

You cannot officially resize the NTFS format, although apparently with the right tools some people have successfully done it. I tried, everything was in tact, but it wouldn't boot.

Went to this expo yesterday, it wasnt bad, not as good as I thought it would be. Mainly computer shops, some game shops, a massive 600+ LAN fest, etc.

Soooo tomorrow is the day. Finally, months after watching those damn east coasters get a taste of PAX, it's back home on the best coast. Huzzah!

Gonna get on the inFamous machines asap as well as the Killzone 3 machines before they get mobbed down. Money is on Halo Reach being ***** nuts, as will the 3DS (if it's there......)

I think we should try to keep the software listed here just to what�s flat-out free. Perhaps if someone wants, we can start a second thread to the tune of ��Not Exactly Free, But Worth It!� Software.� As a general rule, any software with a trial period isn�t free, so we should probably keep it out of this thread in order to keep with the thread�s theme. (And BTW � this isn�t directed at anyone in particular.)

So let�s keep it up, guys! What other free software you do like? :)

All I can say is its about freakin' time. Next, how about a dynamic web-based interface for iDisk, so Windoze users don't have to install an application to use it from the desktop, and with the ability to individually password-protect folders?
